Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the SOTT Conservatory Track and/or our Mainstage shows at Children's Theatre of Charlotte. This workshop will run from 7:00pm-9:30pm on Monday, April 1st at ImaginOn in the McColl Family Theatre. Students signing up for this workshop must have previously completed a class in our SOTT program. This workshop will be run in a workshop/master class style, with students cycling through performing and receiving feedback from Michelle Long, Director of Education, and Adam Burke, Artistic Director at Children's Theatre of Charlotte. The first 10 students registered should be prepared to audition with their music appropriately marked for the accompanist. Preferably, the materials that your student prepares should be what they will bring to Conservatory and/or Mainstage auditions. Audition attire is recommended. Performing students will have 15 minutes to sing and be coached. Those wishing to attend the masterclass for observation only should sign up to rsvp, but do not need to prepare material. Parents are welcome too! Students and parents will be expected to attend the full workshop.
What should my student prepare?
16-32 bars of a song and a 60-second (maximum) monologue for the following:
- Young Company
- Musical Theatre Company
- Pre-Professional Company
- Mainstage shows
Two 60-second (maximum) contrasting monologues only for the following:
- Acting Company
- New Works Company
There will be no dance portion of this workshop. All students may want to bring a notebook and pencil as there will be many learning opportunities while watching other students receive coaching.
On the evening of the workshop, ImaginOn will be closed to the public but the building will remain open for various Education meetings. Parents and students can gather on the mezzanine outside of the McColl Family Theatre at ImaginOn (to the left up the ramp as you walk in the main ImaginOn doors). The doors will open shortly before 7pm. Parking can be validated underneath ImaginOn for up to 90 minutes or can be validated for the full workshop by parking at 7th Street Parking Garage (after 5pm) and validating at the ImaginOn front desk. This workshop is free of charge.
