First Congregational UCC DG
FCUCC is happy to be a part of Community Kitchen! Thank you for voluteering to serve and help our neighbors who are facing housing and/or food insecurity. We will be providing dinner every Monday night in September and also dinner on the second Friday of September, the 9th, and the fourth Friday of September, the 23rd. Lunchmeat, cheese and bread are donated by Angelo's Food at Maple and Belmont for our Monday meals. On Fridays, we are asking for volunteers to prepare the food and drop it off at the Community Kitchen. Other volunteers will serve.
On Mondays, please arrive at the west entrance of the church at 4:45 pm to prepare the sandwiches. We'll then put the meals on rolling carts and transport them to the Community Kitchen at our new property at 1101 Curtiss. Dinner will be served from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Cleanup follows.
On Fridays, food volunteers will deliver the food directly to the Community Kitchen at 5:15. Dinner will be served from 5:30-6:30 pm by other volunteers. Cleanup follows.
The number of guests is very fluid. We can serve as few as 8 or as many as 30. Numbers have greatly increased and 18-25 is the norm right now. There will always be an experienced volunteer at every shift.
Please remember to take proper safety precautions including wearing masks, gloves and practicing social distancing. Do not volunteer if you have been in contact with anyone or are experiencing any fever or other symptoms.
Please review available slots and click on the button to sign up. If you have any questions, please call Mary Dove at 630-935-6166. Thank you!
