West Patent Elementary School

Service Learning and raising young environmentalists is a huge part of West Patent Elementary School’s culture and vision. Joining forces with Westchester Local Food Project has reinvigorated our gardening program streamlining our focus to raise as much food as possible to support our local food pantries. This is service learning in real time!  We would like to invite you to a new and exciting family summer volunteer opportunity in our school gardens. If you always wanted a garden but didn’t feel you had the knowledge or expertise, or if you simply want to teach your family the importance of community service, please consider signing up to help us grow food. You will be met by a garden coach from the Westchester Local Food Project or even our very own teachers. We will water, weed, and harvest our vegetables to be brought to our local food pantry. Additionally, as an added bonus your family will get to snack on fresh produce, bring home some goodies for dinner or even some fresh eggs from our chickens Mocha and Butterscotch! We would love your support and hope you can make our mission come true… “We Grow to Give!”
