Easter Prayer Vigil 2019
This Holy Week, please consider participating in Christ Church’s 24 hr Easter Prayer Vigil. The Vigil makes space for followers of Jesus to respond to His invitation to “Watch and pray”, (Mark 14:32-38) while we wait for His resurrection.
The vigil begins at 8:00pm on Friday, April 19th, after the Good Friday service and ends at 6:00pm Saturday evening, April 20th. This 24 hr period will be divided into a series of one hour time slots and allows 2 or more people to pray individually or together during the same time slot. You can sign up alone or sign up as a group. We encourage small groups to pray together. If your small group would like to take a time slot, please have the group leader sign up for the whole group and in the comment section indicate the number in your group.
We hope the vigil allows you to focus or re-focus your eyes on Jesus and His gifts of forgiveness and salvation, made possible by His sacrifice. Your hour of vigil will allow time for: self reflection and confession, for praying for the church and clergy and for praying for the unchurched persons attending Easter services. Printed prayer guides will be available to you for this hour if you desire to use them.
For safety reasons, we need to have a minimum of 2 people praying for each time slot, and if those two people are not married, then they need to be the same sex. A security guard will also be provided overnight. If you are unable to pray at church and would still like to participate, please sign up for a time slot and indicate you will be praying from home.
We ask that you enter and exit the church building through the Children’s Wing doors. The Prayer Vigil will take place in the Chapel, which will be the room to the left as you enter the building.
Thank you all! For questions or further details please contact either Laura Ericson at (913) 754-6602 or Linda Peterson at 816-223-2005.
