Cooperative Gardens of Narberth
Sign up here to help care for the Giving Garden! There are daily watering slots available. Please indicate if you plan to water in the morning or afternoon. It's ok if your plans change on the day, but it's helpful for us to have a general sense of when people will be watering.
New and improved hose this year! It's now located on a hose reel in the garden. Valve to turn it on and off right by the hose reel. If water doesn't turn on check the shut off valve along the water line by the playground-side back door to the library- sometimes it gets turned off there as well. Please make sure to roll the hose back onto the reel when you are done, and please make sure to turn the water off.
As for how much water the beds need, they should be well saturated without significant puddling. Applying water evenly with the Shower setting on the nozzle for 2-3 minutes per bed as a general estimate should be fine. Water tends to puddle briefly and then seep in, so alternating between beds as you water is helpful. Very hot days may require more water, cool days after rains less. If it is actively raining for more than 30 minutes on the day you are signed up to water, you won't need to water. If there's light/occasional rain, please go and assess the dampness of the beds before deciding if you don't need to water that day. Please note that there are sunflowers planted along the fence in the garden; please water those as well.
If you are new to gardening or would like some instruction in person about what to do, please indicate that in the Comment box, or send us an email at [email protected] with the date you are signed up for and letting us know that you'd like some instruction, and we'll make a plan to have someone meet up with you at the garden.
Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you! If you have any questions at all please email us.
Thank you very much!
