Friends in Faith Sunday School
For years, TRUMC has supported Trinity’s Sunday Morning Breakfast ministry to the poor and homeless of downtown Columbia by preparing bag lunches to supplement the full breakfast served every week.
Different TRUMC Sunday School classes volunteer each Saturday morning. For 2019, MYF is sharing 3rd Saturday duties with the Friends in Faith (FIF) SS class.
Who: maximum of 6 adults, youth, and/or children (3rd grade or older recommended)
When: 3rd Saturday of each month (except for Sept., Nov., and Dec.) from 8:00 to 9:30 am
MYF – March, April, May, September, October, November
FIF – January, February, June, July, August, December
Where: Trinity Cathedral
What: 200-250 bologna sandwiches and boiled eggs
How: Eggs are boiled and sandwiches are prepared using food and supplies provided by Trinity. Volunteers also clean the kitchen before and after their work.
- No experience required. However, at least 1 volunteer must be an “Eggmaster.” An Eggmaster is an adult (18 or older) who is trained in how to use the commercial stove and who can safely transport large pots of hot water and boiled eggs. Eggmasters include Byrnie Chapman, Alex Clary, Bruce Edwards, David Free, Jim Hamner, Chris Huffman, Greg Schuch, and Reid Quattlebaum.
- A limited number of aprons are available.
- Close-toed, slip-resistant shoes are recommended.
