St. John in the Wilderness
Happy Easter! We welcome you to The Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness in Flat Rock, NC. We hope you will join us for worship soon and look forward to getting to know you better.
Please read the safety information found just below. The 8:45 and 10:00 services are being held in the church, and we are asking you to RSVP as we are worshipping at reduced capacity. We have already subtracted out those helping to set up and lead worship. Capacity has been increased while maintaining physical distancing and mask wearing.
Please remember the following protocols for safety. Thank you.
Enter through the Carriage Entrance only and exit through the Tower door.
Wear your mask at all times, except when taking Communion. Make sure your mask covers your nose also.
Please keep six feet distance from people who are not in your family.
We will have bulletins for you. You may bring your own Book of Common Prayer if you would prefer, but there will not be Books of Common Prayer or Hymnals in the pews. Please either take your bulletin home to reflect deeper on the readings and prayers or place them in the recycling bin after the service.
- The updated guidelines from our diocese say that we may sing softly behind our masks, but we should not be singing very loudly or with typical choral breathing. Please join in with some restraint.
Though we cannot guarantee safety, we have made many efforts to be safer, including investing in the latest air filtration technology for our church HVAC system and taking the steps outlined above. We will also do our best to air out the church between services and we are encouraged by the large number of parishioners who have been vaccinated. Thank you for sharing in the responsibility to gather safely. Let us continue to look towards the needs of others, to welcome all graciously even in tense times, and live into the Eucharistic spirit of thankfulness for all of God's gifts, including one another.
