CAIR Coalition Detention Hotline Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with CAIR Coalition's detention hotline! Our hotline is a free phone line that detained immigrants in Maryland and Virginia can call in order to be connected with CAIR Coalition staff or their private attorneys. Hotline volunteers are essential to ensuring callers' ability to access legal services.
If you have never volunteered on CAIR Coalition's detention hotline before, please sign up for an upcoming training below. We always need Spanish-speakers, but all volunteers are welcome and necessary, regardless of language ability.
While the training session will cover how to use CAIR Coalition's phone system and database, a basic level of comfort with technology (phones and computers) is encouraged. Hotline volunteering takes place on-site, on the third floor of CAIR Coalition's DC office from 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
If you need to cancel your training signup, please navigate to your signup slot, then choose the third cancellation option, which will let you send a link to yourself. That link will allow you to cancel.
Once you have completed a training session, you may sign up for upcoming shifts through this link. Please do not sign up for a volunteer shift until you have completed a training session.
