Thank you for your interest in helping with the Derbyshire Community Garden!
Watering should take about 45 minutes-1 hour. Plan to water all 20 donation beds (the first two rows of double plots you come to as you enter the garden), all of the melons and flowers outside of the fence line, the shed's windowboxes, and the blueberry bushes and herbs next to the shed. Please be mindful not to let the hose hit plants in other beds as you water.
If it rains on your date to water (or if it has been raining in the days preceeding), please check the soil before you water to make sure it really needs it. Stick your finger in the dirt- if it's kinda dry, water away! If it's muddy, best to hold off.
Weed whacking does not need to be done on the exact date listed. Feel free to do this whenever is most convenient for you around the date you've selected.
The calendar will be adjusted as the summer goes on, so please be sure to check back to see where you might be able to plug in!
If you have questions or would like for someone to meet you at the garden to help get you started, feel free to reach out to Garden Manager Amanda ([email protected]) or Associate Pastor Alice ([email protected]).
