St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish
MLK Day of Service! [Families of CSS/Northside & Foundations Preschool sign-up here!]
Service project sign-up below!
This Service Project is organized in honor of the life and legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whom (even though not a Catholic himself), we celebrate. We recognize his efforts to advance Human Rights and Civil Rights as certainly being in keeping with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and completely aligned with the themes of Catholic Social Teaching: the life and dignity of all people, especially in solidarity with the downtrodden, regardless of skin color and other differences.
Sign-up below here to join members of the St. Francis Parish Peace & Justice Committee in this service project on Saturday afternoon, January 15th from 11:00am-3:30pm in the St. Francis PAC kitchen as we prepare lasagnas for families who are struggling and in need of a hearty meal. All lasagnas will be made on site in the PAC kitchen. We will have a short training and work "assembly line" style.
Families who have requested a lasagna through a partner agency [CSS Northside & Foundations Preschool] will pick it up at the PAC at 3:30; any additional lasagnas will be delivered to Hope Clinic to freeze for later distribution. Lasagna Love offers a break from everyday worries, a small act of kindness to assure our neighbors in need that someone cares enough to look out for them, and through service we strengthen our community.
(Note: This is a great project for 8th graders who need service hours for Confirmation!).
