Lincoln 4th of July Volunteer List

The Lincoln 4th of July Celebration has been a long standing community event. In order for it to continue and be a success, we need volunteers. Please help out for a couple hours to keep this event going.

Volunteers need to be 18+.

WITHOUT VOLUNTEERS LIKE YOU, THIS EVENT CAN'T HAPPEN!

As you might have heard by now, the Lincoln City Council has approved the conditional event permit for our annual Fourth of July celebration at McBean Park! Having an appropriate number of volunteers was one of the biggest hurdles we faced in receiving approval and thanks to all of you, we did it!

Part of the city’s requirements are that all volunteers need to be 18 years of age or older. We apologize to any 16 and 17-year-olds that may have already signed up to volunteer. This is in large part due to liability.

Tomorrow a volunteer waiver form will be available on our website and emailed to you. We ask that you please fill out this one page document and email it back to [email protected] or turn it in to the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce by Friday June 28. The chamber is located at 540 F St. in downtown Lincoln.

On the Fourth when you arrive for your shift, please come 15 minutes early to check in. Meet us at the information tent on McBean Park Drive and someone will show you where to go and what to do. You'll be receiving your volunteer t-shirt prior to your shift on the 4th. If you've signed up for an evening shift, please bring a flashlight and/or headlamp so you can see. Glowsticks are also helpful if you have some.

The other change per the City of Lincoln is that traffic control must be done by a certified third-party company. Thank you to all that have signed up to volunteer with traffic control; we will be reassigning you to support the monitoring of gates and parking lot access.

We will be having an ALL-volunteers meeting Saturday June 22nd at 9am in the McBean Park Rotunda. The main focus of this meeting will be SAFETY. We want to answer any questions and ensure that everyone is on the same page before the 4th. The meeting should last 60-90 minutes depending on how much discussion we have.

We do understand that some of you will be unable to attend. If you cannot attend, please let us know and we’ll make sure to send any important meeting notes.

Thank you to all who have inquired about ways to make a donation to the event. We are accepting tax deductible donations through our Paypal and Venmo accounts. We also have many donation jars set up throughout a number of Lincoln businesses (please see our website for a full list). Checks and cash can be dropped off directly at the Umpqua bank on 5th St or in 12 Bridges in Lincoln. Just be sure to sign the donation ledger at the bank for your tax receipt and put “Fourth of July” in the memo line if it's a check.

Also, be sure to catch us at the Lincoln Potters games on Wednesday June 19th, Friday June 21st, and Sunday June 23rd where we will be hosting a 50/50 raffle each night!

On behalf of the committee, I want to thank each and every one of you for volunteering your valuable time, especially on a holiday. It's through your efforts that we're able to help keep this annual tradition alive.

Thank you to everyone that's signed up so far! The City Council will be voting on whether or not to approve the permit for the fireworks show June 11. They are asking to see at least 100 volunteers between the hours of 6 and 10pm. We are just 28 people away from that!
