Sturdy Dirty Volunteers
It's time to break out the costumes and get your arms ready for a million high-5's!
Volunteers are key to making this event happen. Here is a bit of information for those who want to sign up.
Location
The race will be at Tiger Mountain State Forest, located off Highway 18. Directions to "Tiger Summit Trailhead (east Tiger Mountain State Forest)" will get you there.
Reporting Time
Could be as early as 6:45am Saturday. Please sign up for a job here. An email will follow with specific instructions BY JULY 14. If you know you signed up to volunteer but didn't get the email, please contact [email protected] Questions? Email us!
Jobs
Timers, sweepers, crossing guards, etc. See the sign up section for the open positions. We encourage you to sign up with a buddy to make the day more fun. If you want to be paired with someone specific, just specify that when you sign up. Feel free to invite friends to fill positions. We want you to have fun - wear a costume, bring props, cheer, and make the racers feel special!
Bikes or No?
If you want to ride, please get a sweep position. Sweeps will be on their bikes all day. Please be sure you are able to ride the course distance and elevation!
Most other positions will be best to drive in, but you may be able to ride out after all of the racers have gone through. We will work with you to coordinate transportation.
Discover Pass
You need one! Be sure to have a Discover Pass on your car.
Being Prepared
If you are working on the race course, please be prepared for spending quite a bit of time in a remote location. We are anticipating some racers to take up to 5 hours to complete the course. Bring a pack with food, water and appropriate clothing for the weather and sitting around. There will not be any bathrooms on the course either. Also, there is no running water at the site. We are bring some water in, but just in case, toss a large bottle or two of water in your car in case we run dry.
After the race
We are providing a great meal and your choice of beverages. You'll also get a raffle ticket. Bring your camp chair and be ready to hang out. Additional raffle tickets, event t-shirts, and extra plates of food (if you are with non-racers and non-volunteers) will be available for cash purchase.
Communication
Prior to the race, you can reach out to [email protected] Julie Crittenden will be in touch in the days prior to the race as well (email with details will be sent by July 14). Day of the race, most phones have coverage at Tiger Mtn. The Sturdy Bitches will have their phones at the ready for any issues that may arise.
