Friends of Dinosaur Ridge
Come help us with our Dinosaur Discovery Day on Saturday, June 15th! The theme for this event is "Family, Fun & Fossils". This outdoor event will be held at our Visitor Center and at the fossil sites on Dinosaur Ridge. Many volunteers are needed and a number of roles do not require any experience at all! Take a look at the volunteer shifts below and click on the sign-up button to add your name. Thank you for volunteering!
Setup: The event timeframe is 10am-2pm. All morning shifts include helping with setup from 9-10am. All afternoon shifts will include helping with teardown from 2-3pm (Full Day volunteers can choose to help with one or the other). If you are available to help with Pre-setup on Friday 6/14. please stop by the Main Visitor Center at 3pm! Please check-in with Erin LaCount or Dennis Tesar for setup guidance. For setup details click here.
Volunteer Attire: This is an outdoor event! Please dress for the weather forecasted that morning and be prepared for sun, rain and wind (Current forecast has highs in the 70’s with a 50% chance of rain in the afternoon). FODR Volunteers, please wear your nametag, a 30th Anniversary T-shirt, OR a Dinosaur Discovery Day T-shirt from a previous year. We will have a few extra 30th Anniversary T-shirts (limited sizes) and stick-on nametags at the Volunteer Check-In Booth.
Ridge Volunteers: We will set up tents at Croc Creek, Track Site, Bones, Bulges as well as the Ashbed/Concretion stop and the Denver Basin Overlook. If you are volunteering at another stop and would like to have a tent, please let us know before 2pm Friday. We will also provide a bus shuttle for Ridge volunteers around 9:30am and at the end of the day in addition to the continuous shuttles during the day. Please do NOT drive your car up the Ridge unless you have been given specific permission!
Food: If helping with both AM & PM shifts, a sack lunch with a Subway sandwich will be provided. Please bring a full water bottle (additional bottled water will be provided as needed). Our Snack Shack will also be open for purchases.
Parking: Please park nose-in (not parallel) on Alameda Parkway outside the Visitor Center parking lot (or in designated parking spots at the East or West gates after checking in). Please do NOT park in the Visitor Center parking lot (unless handicapped). Note: we will not be using satellite parking for this June event.
