Bulletin Board Maintenance

Chipper (3)

Get trained on how to use the chipper. Help chip garden materials as needed. Roy Bueler (Lead)

Will take notes at meetings, type, and disseminate meeting minutes for email distribution.

Communication with DON, Our Redeemer’s and GROW

Community Events (4)

Work with local organizations to host events in our garden. Examples: Seattle Audubon (garden walkthrough for native plants and pollinators), Seattle Tilth (host one of their community workshops), ask a local school to hold a class or two here…)

Compost Program (8)

Learn how to make compost and successfully manage the garden’s composting system. Roy Bueler (Lead)

Flag Plaza / Planter Area (2)

Water the planter, keep the area tidy.

Food and Beverages Team (12)

Purchase, plan and bring food and drinks to a scheduled work party, workshop, or special garden event. (Advanced scheduling will be provided.)

Free Pile Maintenance (2)

Keep the items in the free pile organized. Identify and haul away any non-garden items/junk/trash that aren't usuable by the garden.

Front Flower Beds / Welcome Garden (3)

Maintenance of main front flower beds. Weeding, watering, and general upkeep of plants.

Garbage Pickup (2)

Pick up garbage throughout the garden. Maintain garbage containers: empty filled containers, replace with new bags, take garbage home.

Giving Garden Lead (2)

Giving Garden Seed Ordering

In coordination with the Giving Garden Lead(s): order seeds for the upcoming growing season.

Giving Garden Soil Testing (2)

In coordination with the Giving Garden Lead(s), collect soil samples per instructions from the testing lab, deliver to the lab and interpret results; buy and put in amendments as needed.

Giving Garden Watering Team (20)

About 100 total hours of work per growing season. Waterers are needed on Thursdays and Saturday/Sundays. Lead: Sharon Farmer

Interest in supporting individual marketing projects as they come up throughout the year.

Provide direction, support, mentorship, and operational continuity to further the goals of the garden and its community. Chair: Cindy Kruger

Leaf Collection (20)

Collect and bag clean and dry leaves from parks, cemeteries, front yards…etc. (Note: avoid leaves from city streets and areas where car use and pollution is heavy. Can be done all year round.)

Mailbox Garden

Maintain this little garden to the east of the shed.

New Gardener Orientation Team (6)

Will greet new gardeners and show them the location of their plot with a brief on-site orientation explaining: where tools are, how to get into the shed, how to donate produce, how the compost works, where the sign-in book is, etc…

Newsletter Design

Use MailChimp to design, craft, and send p-patch newsletter. (Written content will be provided.)

Newsletter Writing

Work with Leadership Chair and Team to write and develop content for p-patch newsletter.

Patio Maintenance Team (4)

Maintain roses, grapes, and planters on the patio. Keep the area free of weeds. Team members will decide as a group how to proceed. One person to volunteer as Lead is recommended.

Photographers (20)

Take and submit pictures of the garden for use in garden marketing efforts, website, and social media accounts. Sign up and commit to taking photos at special garden events, monthly work parties, and garden workshops.

Plot Monitoring Team (4)

Work as an anonymous team to regularly walk the garden, assess plots for compliance to active gardening rules and report activities to the city office for documentation and follow-up steps. Email [email protected] to join!

Seed Library (4)

Set up, organize and maintain throughout the growing season. Answer questions from gardeners on usage. (Co-Leads: Anaistasia, Dea)

Social Media Account Maintenance (4)

Soil First Program (10)

Toolshed Maintenance (2)

Will periodically clean up and organize tools, fall cleaning, oiling, and sharpening of tools.

Vacation Watering Team (6)

Provide watering support to garden members who are on vacation.

Vacation Watering Team Coordinator

Point of contact for garden community. Will coordinate with Watering Team to find coverage for vacationing gardeners.

Water Lead / Plumbing

Turns on the water in the spring, off in the fall, and drains the pipelines.

Website Maintenance

Design and maintain site. Update Google Calendar and make design changes and content updates as needed.

Weed Burner (6)

Use weed burner to maintain ADA paths throughout the garden.

Workshop Coordinators (2)

Brainstorm, develop and collect ideas from the garden community. Work with fellow gardeners who would be willing to present a workshop. (Currently we need someone to develop a workshop on soil-testing.)
