The need for affordable and workforce housing is growing, so TEAM Punta Gorda is partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte County to build a home this fall/winter. "TEAM Build" breaks ground in October, 2020, completing the project within 90 days.
TEAM is all about connecting people, organizations and resources to make things happen. Together, we make the Greater Punta Gorda area a better place to live, work and play. Join us for this exciting project!
What should I wear/bring?
- Face Mask
- Closed-toe shoes (no flip flops/sandals)
- Appropriate clothing (no provacative slogans)
- Hat (most work is outdoors)
- Sunscreen/bug spray
- Safety glasses
- Knee Pads (on certain days)
- Chair (break time!)
- APPRECIATED BY ALL... a GREAT attitude!
You can bring your own tools, if you prefer, but tools are provided.
Lunch and water is provided. If you have special dietary needs, please bring your own food.
Since a safety talk is necessary each day, please arrive NO LATER THAN 8:50 AM. If you're not there for the talk, you may not be allowed onsite. We should finish by 3:00 PM. If you need to leave early, please let us know.
Habitat for Humanity will provide a construction manager, who is the boss. Please follow their instructions, as they have done this many times before.
Due to the unpredictable nature of construction work, dates and/or tasks in this construction timeline are subject to change. If a scheduled task is completed in less than one work day, then the next day's scheduled task will begin, rather than ending the work day early.
All volunteers are required to complete and submit a Volunteer Application/Release and Waiver of Liability before entering the construction site. Participants, ages 16 to 18, must have a parent/guardian sign the Release and Waiver of Liability. For liability reasons, we are unable to accept volunteers under the age of 16.
