Blues & Roots Festival - Burnaby Arts Council Volunteer

The Burnaby Arts Council (BAC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the visual, literary and performing arts. Its aim is to bring the community together through the Arts. The BAC will be hosting a 50/50 draw at the Burnaby Blues & Roots Festival on Saturday August 10th, 2019 and we need your help to make it happen! Come out to enjoy the festivities while helping make this annual Burnaby event a memorable one.

The BAC is seeking to fill the volunteer position of Burnaby Blues & Roots Festival Volunteer. This is an excellent position for someone who enjoys music, art, and the outdoors, and is friendly and outgoing. If you are interested in having a nice day out in the summer sun, enjoying good music and festivities, this one time commitment is perfect for you!

 

We are looking for volunteers to work in pairs so please sign up with your friends if you can!

 

Role Description

  • Assist with setup, take down, and operation of our 50/50 booth
  • Walk around festival, enjoy the music while selling 50/50 draw tickets
  • Help verify that payment has been collected
  • Perform odd tasks during down time
  • Attend the mandatory orientation session prior to your shift.  (on the event date)

Key Competencies

  • Excellent communication skills in English – other languages are an asset
  • Must have a knack for selling tickets!
  • Sociable and engaging; comfortable interacting with high volumes of people
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team - Punctual, approachable open minded, with good attitude!
  • Must be 19 years or older
  • Enjoys loud blues music and local arts!

Shift availability: Saturday August 10th 11:30AM – 8:00PM

  • No reserved or on site parking available
  • Passes to be picked up at gate just prior to your shift
  • This is a Burnaby Arts Council fundraiser, not afffiliated with the City of Burnaby.
  • All funds raised are for the Burnaby Arts Council programming of events & activities
