Town of Duck Volunteers
The 2019 Duck Jazz Festival, presented by PNC, takes place on Columbus Day Weekend annually in October. This year's festival will begin with activities leading up to the full day of music in the Duck Town Park. Events include:
- Story Time on Thursday, October 10 at 10:00 a.m.
- Movie on the Green Thursday, October 10 at Sunset
- Concert on the Green on Saturday, October 12 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Volunteers are needed for the weeks leading up to the festival weekend Saturday, and Sunday, October 12-13, 2019 at the Duck Town Park (1200 Duck Road). On Sunday gates open at 10:00 a.m., and live music starts at 11:00 a.m.
Please select an area and a time that you wish to help. If you are signing up as a couple, please be sure to enter each individuals name and contact information on a separate line.

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR A JAZZ FESTIVAL VOLUNTEER MEETING ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3 AT 9:30 A.M. IN THE DUCK TOWN MEETING HALL. WE WILL DISTRIBUTE T-SHIRTS, QUICKLY REVIEW ASSIGNMENTS, AND ANSWER QUESTIONS.
VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTIONS:
OFFICE HELP: Duties will include assembling station bins, sponsor packet assembly, simple computer work, simple administrative work, and some manual labor.
VOLUNTEER SIGN-IN GREETER: Be on hand in the volunteer room (1st Floor Conference Room) to orient volunteers to their assignment location, give appropriate badges and have them check-in or check-out for their shift. Role also includes helping with volunteer food and trash as necessary to keep this area clean, and replenished.
CONCERT Set-up/Break-down: Similar to a Concert on the Green in the summer, this event will have volunteers assist with sign placement, parking, general set-up and take down of recycle and trash bins, merchandise area etc.
MERCHANDISE SALES: Similar to the summer concerts, however with the addition of jazz merchandise. This position is responsible for handling transactions and assiting attendees with t-shirt and other merchandise (hats, rubber ducks, flags, etc.) selection. You will also be responsible for helping to keep a record of items sold.
SPONSOR Welcome & Check-In: There will be a special Sponsor Area behind and to the side of the stage at the Saturday evening concert. Volunteers in this area will assist with greeting sponsors and provide assistance to town staff during event.
PARKING: Three parking lots: the main lot, north public lot, and volunteer lot (most likely at PNC, but that will be confirmed closer to the event). The Town's main lot is reserved for handicapped parking until full, band parking, and OAR rentals. Assist with parking, monitor open spaces, and notify entering cars when lot is full.
GATE ENTRANCE: Responsible for restricting access to park before gates open at 10 a.m. Greet festival goers as they come in; hand out Jazz Festival brochures.
CONCESSIONS: Responsible for sales of soft drinks, bottled water, limited merchandise, & providing way-finding information.
GROUNDS: Responsible for ongoing maintenance of trash & recycling and ensuring Concession stands are fully stocked with ice and drinks. This position will involve manual labor.
SECURITY: Main stage -- Responsible for overseeing access to the backstage and restricted band parking areas. Amphitheater -- Responsible for overseeing access to the Amphitheater stage.
BAND AREA/CATERING-- Responsible for keeping the band green room (meeting hall) clean and tidy for the band's use. Keep requested hospitality items stocked for bands (tea bags, specialty snacks, etc.). Provid way-finding information for band members. Assist band members with poster signings.
SURVEY GATHERERS-- Responsible for greeting guests and assisting them with ipads and/or paper surveys about the event.
