Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad
DUE TO A HIGH VOLUME OF RIDE ALONGS, SLOTS WILL ONLY BE OPEN TO BLS OR ALS STUDENTS FOR THE MONTHS OF AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER. I will be contacting you after you sign up to confirm that you are actively in class!
IMPORTANT: Observers must be 16 or older, or 15 in the case of an enrolled EMT student. Any observer under the age of 18 must also have a parent/ guardian signature. If you're are under 18, please email [email protected] for a PDF.
Please understand that by "Registering" for a shift, it does not necessarily guarantee it is confirmed! Please keep an eye out on your email.
Our day shift starts at 6:00am and ends at 6:00pm, and our night shift starts at 6:00pm and ends a 6:00am. Please arrive 5-15 minutes before the shift begins. You will need to wear closed-toe shoes and we will provide you with coveralls to wear over your street clothes.
**It has been requested by our beloved members that we inform you not to ring the doorbell before 6am. Our night crew members will be sleeping and will be very unhappy to be awoken at 5:45am. Our half-asleep night crew members will not make the great first impression that we want you to experience.**
During your shift please feel free to ask any questions of our volunteers after calls. Our patients deserve our undivided attention and our crews strive to provide it to them. Please follow the crews directions at all times as this helps us to provide a high quality of care, as well as ensure your safety on calls. If you are approached or asked a question please explain that you are completing a ride-along and direct the person to the crew member identified as your squad leader.
We appreciate your interest in the rescue squad and hope you enjoy your shift. Your cooperation with the above will ensure both a good response by the crew and your safety! Again, PLEASE be sure to fill out an observer waiver form prior to arriving at the station for your scheduled shift.
Feel free to email [email protected] with any questions.
