Immersion Youth Repertory
Auditions for the Pre-professional Immersion Youth Repertory program will be June 11th. This summer we will be performing Next To Normal at The Rochester Civic Theatre in Rochester MN on July 29 & 30th.
This one week musical theatre intensive (Beginning July 25) is designed for those in pursuit of a musical theatre career. Participants will experience a professional theatre setting with a professional rehearsal schedule and directors. Cast members will also receive one-on-one voice lessons and role preparation with Dr. Lindsey Blackhurst and acting training with Rochester Civic Theatre's Executive Director Misha Johnson.
Next to Normal, with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt, explores how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness. Winner of three 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Score and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize.
This deeply moving piece of theatre provides a wonderful opportunity for performers to explore dramatic material and showcase vocal talents with an energetic pop/rock score. Next to Normal is an emotional powerhouse that addresses such issues as grieving a loss, ethics in modern psychiatry, and suburban life.
