Sacramento Shakespeare Festival
The Sacramento Shakespeare Festival announces Auditions for its 2019 Season - “Shakespeare in Love,” and “Twelfth Night.”
This is the 54th season for the Festival, and in contradiction to the adage that says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, this old dog is a-changing. After 35 years outside, Summer 2019 will be indoors. With air-conditioning! And picnics, too.
We are inviting anyone who has every played on the outdoor stage to return and enjoy this first year of air -conditiong. We are also inviting anyone who has never played on the outdoor stage to join us in the glory of air-conditioning.
Auditions will be Monday, April 29 from 7 - 10 pm for all newcomers. Please bring a prepared monologue from any Shakespeare, 60 - 90 seconds long. Select a time slot. Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to that time slot and sign in. Actors will be seen in the order in which they sign in.
On Tuesday, April 30, from 7 - 10 will be auditions for all who have worked with the festival in the past. There will be readings from the scripts.
Call backs will be on Wednesday, May 1 from 7 - 10, and Saturday, May 4 TBA.
SSF’s 2019 season opens on June 28 (12th Night), and July 5 (Shakespeare in Love). They will then play in repertory through July 28.
Actors of all ages and ethnicities are welcomed. All roles are open, save Malvolio, which has been precast with Luther Hanson.
