Women's Fiction and Women's Lives

Speaker:  Doris Lemcke

A native Michigander whose great-grandmother was a member of the Ojibwa tribe, Doris has always been fascinated by American history and Native American culture. Rebel Treasure, her first novel was published while she and her husband owned a small-town grocery store in Northern Michigan. Its sequel, White Mountain Spirit, was finished in sunny Southwest Florida.  Next came Legacy of Lies, a time-slip novel involving Michigan’s “most-infamous” governor and a secret that will change history.  She’s currently completing edits on her latest Women’s Fiction novel featuring a female Yankee reporter in Georgia during 1964’s “Freedom Summer”.

As a “powerful woman in progress”, Historical and Women’s Fiction author Doris Lemcke, will share her path to a full-time writing life that’s still unfolding—complete with hills and valleys, stalls and stumbles, victories, and defeats. She’ll draw parallels to the ways we can produce positive results in our creative, professional, political, and personal lives, so that even in our darkest moments, the light of “A Woman of Purpose” shines through.
