Aiken Pickledillys
This is the Volunteer sign-up list for the Palmetto Indoor Doubles Invitational Pickleball Tournament, to be held at Odell Weeks September 9 - 11, 2022. Volunteers are needed for Venue set-up (2); Player check-in (20); Event desk (18); Court Monitors (54); Lunch Room (3); and Referees (24).
Court monitors (CMs) are vital to a successful tournament. They are responsible for ensuring play is continuous and runs efficiently. CMs escort the players to the correct court. They explain local rules and procedures to players. They issue and collect first server wrist bands, balls, and match sheets. CMs ensure that matches start on time. They time (using a stop watch) all time outs and times between games. They do not make line calls or keep score. Lastly, after the match, they deliver the match sheet to the Event Desk. There will be training for this position and for referees. Want to be a court monitor, but it is too early to know which date or time, click here to sign up.
A lunch will be provided for shifts that end or begin during lunch time.
Volunteer shirts will be the same lime green shirt as those from previous years. Volunteers who want or need a shirt (or an additional shirt) this year need to indicate the size on the sign-up.
This tournament provides support to Aiken's local hotels and restaurants as well as new equipment for the pickleball community. The tournament cannot function without volunteers, so please be generous with your time.
