The choice to produce this play is GLM’s response to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v.Wade. From the author of Talking With and Vital Signs, here is a volatile drama about abortion. Du, a right-to-life activist, and Keely, a pregnant rape victim Du is confining, transcend their circumstances and the ideological issues that separate them. Keely and Du is a mind-probing issue play with a gripping human face. Who is accountable? What is the extent of individual freedom? What are a rape victim’s rights? What are a Christian’s realities of procreation? Their passionate stories exist on the extreme edge of everyday reality. Keely and Du is a 1994 Pulitzer Prize nominated play.

A message from the director – Ages are flex to me. The matching of Keely and Du is the most important thing. So please come and show us your heart and talent. I am 48. As an actor that feels like a strange time warp. So don’t worry about your age. Please come and play. This play is about women and the rights that are being stripped from us. I encourage all to participate in this audition. My heart is open to all of you. We ask that you provide a 1–2-minute monologue for the audition. Based on that monologue we will read from sides for the callbacks. The sides will be available as you leave the audition on Monday, November 28 should you be invited to the callbacks. I have selected a monologue for actors auditioning for Keely and a monologue for actors auditioning for Du. We will include those as an uploaded file on our sign-up sheet for the auditions. YOU DO NOT NEED TO CHOOSE THESE MONOLOGUES. It is just an option and something to read to give you a bit of insight into the play.
