Family Promise of Morris County
Thank you for your interest in supporting our motel shelter guests! We are excited to have a shelter program up and running and are so grateful for your support and thoughtfulness!
Although the shelter program will begin on Monday, February 8th, this Sign-Up is for the open weeks for which we do not have a host. Designated host weeks will be supported by those congregations and the open weeks are for all congregations and community volunteers.
We are currently utilizing four rooms for shelter for the remainder of 2021 at the following motel:
The Sonesta Suites, 100 Candlewood Drive, Morris Plains
The profiles for the guests are as follows:

*If providing groceries, please contact Nora Godown at [email protected] for grocery list.
Since all of the rooms at the Sonesta are equipped with full kitchens, including a full-size refrigerator, cook top stove and microwave, along with dishes, silverware, glassware and more, we have a few options for meal support.
You now have the option of having a homemade meal delivered, providing gift cards to Uber Eats, Door Dash or Grubhub, or supplying groceries so that guests may cook their own meals.
Please indicate homemade meal, gift card or groceries in dinner comment section.
Alternatively, you may support the guests by providing the following:
- Funds for moving costs! Each family's move costs approximately $3,000, which includes security deposit, inspections, realtor fees, furnishings and a moving truck. By the end of June we will have six rooms occupied at the Sonesta!
- Hotspot minutes for internet access and online schooling (click here to purchase online)
- Gas gift card (click here to purchase online)
- Uber gift card
- WalMart gift card
- Nonperishable foods for breakfast, lunch and snacks (ie oatmeal, cereal, mac-n-cheese mixes, etc.
