SWH Hosts

Summit Warm Hearts is a daytime warming center for food- and housing-insecure neighbors of Summit, NJ. We are open from 10-2, seven days a week (provided we have enough volunteer hosts) and offer a place to warm up with coffee, bagels, a hot lunch, and a shower (when it's back in service). SWH is located in Fellowship Hall, lower level of Beacon UUC, 4 Waldron Avenue in Summit. If you are able to host, please click on the slots below. SWH is an initiative of the Summit Interfaith Council and we are pleased to be powered by many houses of worship and non-denominational organizations in and around Summit.

Volunteer hosts are asked to be onsite for a 2 hour shift, in pairs. If only one host is signed up, I or my SWH partner, Leonard Prentice, will be the other host. Host duties include opening and closing the center, making coffee, offering meals, towels for the shower, and getting to know the guests to determine if they have need of any other services we can direct them to. New hosts will be paired with an experienced host, and more detailed guidelines including covid precautions will be emailed to you upon signup.

In addition to our onsite warming center we are providing lunch and dinner to guests who are temporarily sheltered at the Best Western in New Providence. If you are able to provide meals, please see this sign up here:

We are also very grateful to be accepting donated meals from Pizza Vita, Village Trattoria, Serra, Blossom, and Manhattan Bagel. Please see this signup if you are able to pick up and deliver meals from those restaurants to the guests at Best Western:

Copy the following webcal link:

AOL Calendar Top

Go to http://calendar.aol.com
On the top-right corner, click the "Action" menu
From the Action menu, select and click "Subscribe to a Calendar" option
In the Subscribe to a Calendar form, enter the Calendar Name
In the Subscribe to a Calendar form, enter or paste the calendar's web address
Important! In the web address, replace "webcal" to "http".
Click "Subscribe" button

Google Calendar Top

Go to https://calendar.google.com
On the left navigation menu, click the arrow-down button for "Other calendars"
From the menu, select and click "Add by URL" option
In the Add by URL form, enter or paste the calendar's web address
Click "Add Calendar" button

iCal Calendar Top

In Calendar menu, click "File", then select and click "New Calendar Subscription"
In the New Calendar Subscription form, enter the name of the calendar
In the New Calendar Subscription form, enter or paste the calendar's web address
When finished, click the "Ok" button

Outlook.com (Live) Calendar Top

Go to https://outlook.live.com
From the menu, click "Add Calendar", then select and click "From internet"
In the Calendar Subscription form, enter or paste the calendar's web address
In the Calendar Subscription form, enter the Calendar name
When finished, click the "Save" button

Outlook (Desktop) Calendar Top

Open your Outlook application
Navigate to Calendar
From the left navigation pane, right-click "Other Calendars" option, then select "Add Calendar", then select and click "From Internet"
In the New Internet Calendar Subscription form, enter or paste the calendar's web address
When finished, click the "Ok" button

Yahoo Calendar Top

Go to https://calendar.yahoo.com
From the menu, click "Actions", then select and click "Follow Other Calendars"
Using the form, enter the calendar name
For the iCal Address, enter or paste the calendar's web address
When finished, click the "Continue" button
