EDGE Teen Center- Community Service
Hello NJHS Students!
We are so excited to have you serve with EDGE Teen Center!
We extended our Community Service program to NJHS junior high students, there are two service opportunities to serve with us:
Saturday, March 21st, 8:30 am – 1:30 pm (5 hours) Gorman Heritage Farm
Gorman Heritage Farm is a 122-acre nonprofit, working farm with a mission to educate about agriculture, nutrition, sustainability and the environment. The vision of Gorman Heritage Farm is to cultivate an informed, involved community dedicated to Building Healthy Futures. At Gorman Farm there are a variety of projects available for students to take on including gardening, trail repair, animal care and so much more. *IMPORTANT INFO: Volunteer must have this additional WAIVER signed by a parent/guardian in order to volunteer.
*For this opportunity, we encourage parents to serve alongside their 8th grader! If this interests you, please leave a note in the “comments” of the SignUp Genius stating that you will be joining. Please plan to meet us at Gorman Farm if you are driving your child.
Saturday, April 18th, 8:30 am – 1:30 pm (5 hours) RASKALS
RASKALS (Random Acts of Simple Kindness Affecting Local Seniors) is a community service program matching local senior citizens with volunteer teams to complete simple yard clean-up chores. Volunteers will help with simple yard clean-up tasks such as raking, mulching, and planting flowers.
Here are a few simple steps to sign up:
1.) Registration and Forms
EVERY Students MUST have forms signed and turned in the day of the service. EDGE has a required form all students must fill out to ride in the van and serve. The EDGE form can be found here -

Student who have signed up to serve at Gorman Farm MUST have an additional waiver signed and turned in the day of the service. The form can be found here - GORMAN FARM WAIVER
2.) DRESS CODE: no revealing shirts, no rips in jeans, no inappropriate wording on shirts, and nothing see-through. Closed-toe shoes are required for working at RASKALS and Gorman Farm.
3.) EDGE provides transportation from the teen center to the service sites. Students will need to find transportation to get to EDGE. Once everyone arrives, EDGE will transport students from the teen center to the site of service and back. If you wish to drive your student to the service site separately please have your student email me.
4.)Arrive at EDGE by 8:30 AM to check in and load into the van. We will return to EDGE at 1:30 PM.
5.) If you have signed up and can no longer serve, please email [email protected] to remove yourself from the sign up.
