Jeffco Comprehensive Homeless Count
Come join us as we interview people who are experiencing homelessness in Jefferson County. We are connecting with as many people who live outdoors, in cars, in hotels without the resources to stay beyond 14 days, and those who are couch surfing or doubled- or tripled-up for financial reasons as we possibly can during the week of August 19-23, 2019. We'll be canvassing the entire county throughout the week. Sign up for a morning, an afternoon, the entire week or whatever works best for you!
Those conducting the surveys need to be comfortable interviewing a wide variety of people in various living conditions including hotels, camps and parking lots. Volunteers will be working in groups and accompanied by law enforcement personnel to conduct the surveys.
A quick briefing at the start of each shift will be provided as well as a one-hour required training in the weeks leading up to the survey. The required trainings are being offered at the following dates, times and locations:
In order to ensure the accuracy of the count and that every volunteer has a positive experience, each volunteer is being asked to attend one of the in-person trainings listed below:
Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 3-4p.m. in the City of Lakewood Council Chambers 480 S. Allison Pkwy in Lakewood, CO 80226
Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 6-7p.m. in The MAC at 3295 E 72nd Ave. in Westminster, CO 80030
Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 9 – 10:30 a.m. in Faith Community Church at 6228 S Carr Ct. Littleton, CO 80123
If attending the training on Saturday, August 17th, please email LynnAnn Huizingh at [email protected] as this training is one she has arranged for the Severe Weather Shelter volunteers. She welcomes everyone, though! So, if that timeslot and location works best for you, please let her know to expect you.
If you have conducted the Point-in-Time survey in the last two years, you can instead opt to watch an online video training https://youtu.be/yjTzuYTMZqA .
When conducting the survey during the week-long count: Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing. Bring a hat, refillable water bottle, and your favorite sunscreen.
Water and meals at the start of shifts will be provided.
