As part of the 2019 Biennial of the Americas festival, we are pleased to be presenting nine art exhibitions, installations and performances that all provide an opportunity to consider the theme of Empathy in Action from various artists from across the Americas. We are asking volunteers to assist with the installation of two of our art pieces, Adriana Ramirez's "I am going to ___" and Brandon Bullard's #28 Rubric.
Colombian artist Adriana Ramirez is bringing her interactive art project to Denver for the Biennial of the Americas 2019 Festival. The project invites observers to be active participants in the artwork and conveys a message of empowerment and empathy by encouraging an understanding of personal willpower and how language is a mechanism for harnessing and employing self-discipline. Volunteers will assist Adriana in placing the orange rubber dots on the sidewalks in front of McNichols and Civic Center Park.
#28 Rubric is an installation by Denver-based artist Brandon Bullard. The piece will be on display outside of the McNichols Building throughout the Biennial of the Americas Festival (September 25-27) and will serve as a visuall representation of textile waste produced each year. We are asking volunteers to assist Brandon in weaving the clothing into the cube in front of McNichols on Monday the 23rd and Tuesday the 24th.
