Keep Lee County Beautiful, Inc.
**This is a water based event that requires a personal watercraft.**
The Keep Lee County Beautiful Marine Cleanup is an annual event during which volunteers go out to remove monofilament fishing line and other harmful debris from mangrove areas of Lee County. Because of the focus on fishing line, the cleanup event is referred to “Monofilament Madness”. It is hoped that through educational awareness, the people who are causing the problem will be reached and their behavior modified so that, among other reasons, wildlife will be spared agonizing deaths from entanglement in monofilament fishing line.
The cleanup is from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a volunteer appreciation lunch sponsored by Sam Galloway Ford served at 12:00 PM at The Mound House.
**This is a water based event that requires a personal watercraft.** We will have a very limited amount of available canoes at The Mound House. Powerboats can launch (and park trailer for free) from Salty Sam's Marina. There will be 6 kayak seats available at Salty Sam's.
