Hi Everyone: Summer will be here before you know it! We are gearing up for our big summer musical MAMMA MIA! Please take a look at your schedule and see if you might have time to volunteer for Front of House. Reminder: MAMMA MIA! will be performed on the campus of Davidson College in the Duke Family Performance Hall in lower level of the Knobloch Campus Center at 207 Faculty Drive. As always you are welcome to stay for the show. Ushers are asked to help with concessions during intermission. We also ask that ushers wear any kind of black bottom (jeans fine) and a white top. This helped patrons last year find an usher when needing help identifying seats, etc. Box office volunteers have no dress code.
**IF YOU NO LONGER WISH TO RECEIVE SIGN-UP EMAILS FROM DCP, PLEASE UNSUBSCRIBE** We have a limited number of emails that we can send out/month so only to email those who wish to remain active.
Please see below job descriptions of each volunteer position.
Thanks so much and see you at the show!
House Manager: House Manager is responsible for supervising ushers, assembling programs, passing messages, flowers, etc. to cast and crew, seating patrons as needed and cleaning house before and after performances. The House Manager also trains and/or assists any house personnel. House manager acts as liaison with Stage Manager and conveys front of house authorization to Stage Manager, once house is deemed ready for production to begin.
Usher: A volunteer usher is an integral part of facilitating a smooth, safe, and enjoyable theatre experience for our patrons! Ushers greet patrons and pass out playbills, direct patrons to their seats, sweep house before and after shows, ensure no trash or playbills are left behind after production, and store any benches or folding chairs used to seat audience for show. Ushers operate under the direction of the House Manager and are available to assist during an emergency, if necessary.
Box Office: Box officer staff checks patrons in at the theatre on the day of the performance and makes sure all persons are in the party. They collect money, provide change and tickets and inform patron on performance start time and theatre entry guidelines.
