Cancer Journeys Foundation King & Queen of the Mountain Competition | The 2020 Edition
2019 marked the 7th edition of the King and Queen of the Mountain (KOM / QOM) cycling awards at Jeremiah Bishop's Alpine Loop Gran Fondo in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Every September we sponsor the Alpine Loop Gran Fondo with Jeremiah and Erin Bishop. 500+ cyclists descend on the Shenandoah Valley to test themselves against some of West Virginia's most challenging hills and Virginia's legendary Reddish Knob, which is a virtual copy of one of the three routes to the top of the iconic Mount Ventoux in France.
We love awarding these jerseys because the winners demonstrate the #NeverGiveUp! spirit that cancer survivors need to have on their cancer journeys. The Alpine Loop Gran Fondo also is one of our best fundraising programs and generates several thousand dollars each year to support cancer survivors.
A KOM and QOM Competition in Your Neck of the Woods
Not everyone can make it to Virginia so we're considering establishing regional competitions using Strava.com!
1. Register below to compete in one of our six Strava Climb Segments (you may compete in as many segments as you'd like!)
2. Compete until December 31, 2020 to earn your best time on Strava.
3. The top male and female participants, from each Strava.com age group, will be mailed a special KOM/QOM jersey! We will also be mailing out special Lanterne Rouge awards to participants who show the #NeverGiveUp spirit - which is so common in cancer survivors.
4. Join the CJF Strava group (https://www.strava.com/clubs/888) so we can easily keep track of your performances.
