ACTORS AND PARENTS: PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO AUDITION
The Greenbrier Ghost
Thank you for auditioning for The Greenbrier Ghost at Greenbrier Valley Theatre! This production will be directed by Courtney Susman and musically directed by Kermit Medsker. In addition to community and youth actors, this production will feature professional actors.
We encourage all community and youth actors who are interested to audition for the show. As with any musical, being cast in The Greenbrier Ghost is a large time commitment that requires total support from both actor and family. We encourage families to look closely at their personal schedule and make sure there is adequate time for homework, rest, and family time before committing to the musical.
Because this cast is smaller than A Christmas Carol and Babes in Toyland, not everyone who auditions will be cast. Please click here for a list of the available roles. Youth actors and parents, please read the GVTrick or Treat! section very carefully prior to auditioning.
Rehearsals for youth and community actors are usually held from 4:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. on weekdays with hourly character breakdowns and on Saturday and Sunday afternoons (usually from 1:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.). It is likely that adult actors will be called as late as 9:30 p.m. on weekdays and 7:30 p.m. on weekends. The full cast may not be called for every rehearsal. Attendance is important as we will be incorporating acting, singing, and dancing. Monday will always be a day off from rehearsals and performances.
A detailed rehearsal schedule will be emailed out by the evening of October 9, 2019. This schedule won’t be ready until we have compiled all actor conflicts, thrown in a little magic, and created a schedule where we have worked around most of the conflicts. We do our very best to schedule around disclosed conflicts. Please note, recurring undisclosed conflicts and arriving late to multiple rehearsals may take you out of scenes because the show must go on.
There will be several To Be Announced (TBA) rehearsals listed. As we move forward in the rehearsal process, some scenes, songs, and dances will need extra rehearsal time. We won’t know what that will be until we are in rehearsals. You should expect to attend TBA rehearsals until a detailed schedule is sent out no later than 48 hours prior to that rehearsal.
The first rehearsal for The Greenbrier Ghost will be an All Call (full cast) on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. During this rehearsal, we will meet the cast and creative team, hand out scripts, do a read through of the entire play, and begin learning songs.

Auditions will be held at Greenbrier Valley Theatre on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 and are open to community actors. Youth actors (ages 5-18) who are currently enrolled in GVT’s after-school program are also eligible to audition. All auditions are by appointment.
All actors who wish to audition MUST:
During the audition:
Please be early to ensure a timely start for all.
Please be patient. Auditions can run late. Be prepared to wait a little longer than your audition time.
Have prepared 30-60 seconds of a song. You must provide the sheet music for the audition. Please make sure this music is clear so the accompanist can efficiently read it. For more tips, please read our audition tips by clicking here.
GVTrick or Treat (Optional):
If you are cast in the show and missing Trick or Treat because of our preview performance, join us at the theatre at 6 p.m. for GVTrick or Treat! You will be going around the building in costume to different locations trick or treating! If you do not wish to participate in GVTrick or Treat, you can opt for a late show call of 6:45 p.m. so you can enjoy a little trick or treating around town. As rehearsals begin, we will ask youth actor parents which option they will be choosing.
