Italian Dinner Volunteer

The Resurrection Council #11341 14th Annual Italian Dinner will be held Friday September 24 2021 6-8PM

Setup tasks start at 3PM. Doors will open at 5:30. Food service starts at 6PM.

Some tasks may not need you to arrive that early but most require you there at least 30 minutes prior to the event start at the latest. Cleanup starts as the event ends and continues till the church hall and kitchen are back to normal. Contact Sydd with questions. Many tasks are 1 person, others as shown, and certainly extra help on any task is appreciated. Hall and Kitchen Cleanup are really unlimited help tasks (the more people we have the faster it gets done).

All volunteers should wear masks and gloves at all times when working (we can provide the gloves), including covering tables or handling anything that might come into contact with food or places people eat to help ease apprehension of our guests.

Some tasks are a one time effort, don't take too long, and can precede or follow other tasks so please sign up for more than one job if you can. Other tasks require periodic work throughout the evening, so it is hoped if you volunteer and have to break off early, for example, to go eat, that you find someone to take over for you so the task is not just abandoned. After an initial rush, we may consolidate to one buffet requiring less servers/maintenance.

There are many more details to the tasks than listed below, we'll provide those details that night, so be prepared to check a list.

Hall Setup (8)

Break down & move stage, hang council banner, arrange dining tables/chairs to plan, plastic table cloth, centerpiece & chairs per diagram. Hall sound system/microphone.

Buffet Setup (2)

Setup/cover tables, chafing dishes with sterno & pans of water. Alternate plates with napkins, stock setups. Extra sauce, large salad bowl, space for pizza, bread & condiments. Serving utensils. Blue tape on floor on guest side. More detail...

Salad Setup (2)

Toss salad vegetables, large bowl for each buffet plus 1 or 2 reserve. Toss on dressing at the last minute.

Bread Setup (2)

Warm (per directions) & slice bread, arrange in large bowls, one per buffet. Have any reserve ready to replenish.

Dessert Table Setup (3)

Setup/cover table, provide extra utensils. Stage desserts in kitchen, plate and cover with plastic. Fill table in hall and have remainder ready for replenishment.

 

Drinks Table Setup

Setup/cover table, get large coolers & fill with pop & water from fridge plus ice. Ice in large orange coolers plus scoop. Stage drink/wine cups for on demand requests. Line up pop/water on table.

Run for pizza at 5:30 (will be prepaid). Stage pizzas in warmer.

Buffet Maintenance (2)

Make sure buffets are kept stocked with food/plates/utensils/condiments. Monitor Sterno. After initial rush may consolidate to just one. Provide clamshells as needed.

Kitchen/Salad Maintenance

Receive pizza/pasta from runners, stage in ovens/warmer, provide food to buffet maint. people as necessary. Assemble salad refils as necessary and provide to buffet maintenance people (dress salad as it goes out).

 

Drink Table Maintenance

Replenish drinks to table from coolers. Offer people cups (with or without ice) on demand. Provide wine cups on demand.

Dessert Mantenance

Keep plated dessert table stocked from kitchen, as well as extra forks and napkins (possibly spoons if any desserts need it).

 

Entry/Admissions (2)

Setup/cover table in link (cash box), post signs, lock/unlock doors. Check prepaid tickets, sell at door if not sold out. Work with Maître d' to get people to seats.

Door Prizes

Gather them all someplace (maybe cubby outside kitchen) and assess what we got and adjust items to get them all to approximately the same value. At ~7:20, ~7:40 and 8PM help emcee give some away, leaving any higher-end items and 50/50 for the 8PM drawing

 

Raffle (2)

Setup table & chairs in link, cover table. 50/50 needs signs, tickets and cash box. Volunteers should go table to table occasionally to offer more chances. Get half to emcee for final drawing, the rest to treasurer

Hall Clean Up (12)

Toss table garbage including table covers, spot sweep/mop, return tables & chairs to 36 table with 4 chairs. Return stage, stow sound system. Haul garbage cans to dumpster, more details to be provided.

Kitchen Clean up (12)

Wash dishes, stage stuff going back to shed, empty garbage, disinfect surfaces, sweep and mop. More details to be provided.

Provide clamshells for guests to take leftovers. Catalog leftovers, prep for donation to Grass Roots. etc.

Buffet Serving (7)

Masked/gloved server on one side walks down line with guest to fill plate, next server with next guest, etc. Circle back. More instructions provided, show up early to practice. After rush may need fewer/1 buffet.
