Being a greeter is an enjoyable experience, giving you the opportunity to become better acquainted with those you don’t know well and to say “hello” to your friends at the Kirk.
A greeter fulfills an extremely important function in the life of the Kirk. They are typically the first persons that visitors meet. Thus, you should strive to put them at ease, answer any questions, and learn who they are! This is particularly important because sometimes the greeters are the only contacts between the Kirk and visitors. Please inform someone in the office if you feel a follow-up call to the visitors would be desirable.
The mechanics are very simple. Just plan to arrive by about one half hour before worship begins. Simply stand near the door and welcome people as they enter and invite them to get their nametag on the bulletin board. There are blank tags and a marker for visitors if they want a nametag. Be prepared to assist visitors (or others) with their questions such as:
? Which way to the Sanctuary? ? Where are the Restrooms
? Is childcare available? ? Is there a coat rack?
Please stay by the door and greet late arrivals until 10:10 AM. If possible, stay after worship with your nametag on to mingle with others, especially visitors who may appreciate being introduced to others.
Above all, enjoy the experience as you would enjoy greeting visitors to your home and be aware that you have made an important contribution to the Kirk. Please call or email the office, if you have questions or concerns. Again, thank you for performing this important task at the Kirk.
