#YouthCulture Spring Workshop Series: Don't Stand By, Be a H.E.R.O. - For Families

Parents, guardians, educators, and counselors are invited to a FREE workshop on the environment and culture around our youth.

The workshop, #YouthCulture: Don't Stand By, Be a H.E.R.O. - For Families, will be held from 6:45 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, live via Zoom.

This program is presented by The Poe Center

This FAMILY program is an interactive program for families with children in 4th-5th grade. Research suggests that the majority of children involved in bullying are the bystanders. Don’t Stand By: Be a H.E.R.O. – Family Edition uses an intervention strategy that focuses time and skill-building to help bystanders stand up and speak up when it comes to bullying in their schools, neighborhoods, and communities. This interactive program allows youth and their family member(s) opportunities for discussion and problem-solving.

Parents/guardians and their 4th-5th graders welcome! This program is for FAMILIES.

This program is a part of our #YouthCulture Spring Workshop Series. The Poe Center’s #YouthCulture series is designed to empower parents and guardians by providing insight into the environment and culture around our youth. These workshops explore how the developing adolescent brain shapes perceptions and behavior. All participants will receive a free packet of supportive materials and resources. Covered topics will include substance use, Internet safety, sexting, and healthy dating relationships. In addition, we will explore ways to enhance parent-child communication.
