IMPORTANT - Cultivate Volunteer Update - Effective March 17, 2020
The health of our volunteers, staff, and community is highest priority at Cultivate. In order to do our part to limit the spread of COVID-19, we are implementing the following policies immediately:
- Volunteer groups are limited to 8 or fewer people at one time.
- Volunteers must be at least 16 years old
Additionally, all volunteers must pass the following screening:
If you can answer "yes" to any of these questions now or within the past 14 days, please do not volunteer at this time:
- Do you have a fever?
- Do you have a cough?
- Have you traveled in areas with high infection rates, through an airport, and/or internationally in the last 14 days?
- Have you had close contact with any person who is in self-isolation for COVID-19 or has tested positive?
We appreciate your help and understanding!
When volunteering at Cultivate, you may be helping with the following:
Rescuing Food * Processing Food * Washing Backpacks * Packing Backpacks * Bagging Meals * Distributing Backpacks * Printing Labels * Applying Labels * Stocking Shelves * Logging Food In and Out * Food Preparation * Cooking * Washing Dishes * Cleaning Facility
Food processing - help repurpose rescued food by creating meals that will be frozen and distributed in our three county service area.
Inventory backpacks - ensure backpacks are ready to be packed each week by assisting with checking in, organizing, and wiping out the lining
Packing Backpacks - help pack frozen meals into backpacks that are distributed each week to children in food insecure homes
Starting January 2020, all shifts will take place at 1403 Prairie Ave. South Bend, IN 46613.
