Barton Parent Involvement
Friday Popcorn is a LONG standing tradition that was implemented by beloved teacher, Felicity Miel-Crosby. Felicity passed away in the fall of 2015. Since then, 3/4 Teachers have worked tirelessly to keep this Barton tradition alive! Popcorn costs 25 cents a bag. Sometimes teachers pay for their entire classes to get a bag. OR, students come in with a bag full of change to pay for their entire class, or help classmates out that need a quarter.
Popcorn demonstrates Open Education to a T! Students take orders, fill the order, collect money, do math, make change, use teamwork, and customer service skills.
The money made through popcorn sales, goes towards field trip costs.
Barton is reaching out to the entire school community to ask parents to help with the popcorn process. Please consider taking a shift! It would only take 18 parents to staff Friday Popcorn for the remainder of the year! What a great way to work towards the 10 hours of service Barton is asking each parent this year!
