YOUTH GARAGE SALE
INFORMATION AND GUIDELINES

Each year Woodbury Lutheran participates in the Woodbury Lion's Garage Sale to help youth from all campuses fund their mission trips, National Youth Gathering, summer stretch and youth accounts in general. This is open to to all youth/parents in Middle School and High School (current grades 6-12).

The garage sale is held at the Valley Creek Campus in the Genesis room and the Bridge.

Set up times are:

Tuesday through NOON Thursday (5/10 through 5/12).

The garage sale is:

Thursday NOON through Saturday NOON (5/12 through 5/14).

Please ready the Guidelines and Shifts carefully.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

If you are signing up your student, please be sure they understand these guidelines as well. We really appreciate this.

1. All individuals who sign up to work shifts must work the entire shift. (Please don't sign up for a shift if you can't stay the full shift) If you're unable to make a shift at the last minute, please contact Shanna Salzman at 612-859-1365 so we can adjust accordingly (call or text). All shifts are important to make this a successful garage sale/fundraiser.
2. During your shift, please work the whole time. There is a lot to be done in a short amount of time, please come prepared to work and to look for places to be helpful. Some of the duties include: receiving, organizing, and sorting clothes and on Thursday morning pricing. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday we have slots for someone who is able to lift 25 pounds or more. During the actual garage sale the duties include: being outside to monitor items for sale, organizing within Genesis and the Bridge, and cashiering. These are just a sample of duties.
3. Saturday Cleanup Shift: This shift is literally taking down the garage sale. This means taking all clothing off hangers and bagging all clothing. We will need to box everything else up and move everything into a moving truck. We will be taking all of the remaining items from the sale to Savers donate. We have added a couple of shifts for people to go with us to Savers to help with unloading. We also assist with setting the Genesis Room as needed. Other than the couple of shifts for the trip to Savers, the cleanup shift has an approximate end time between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm, but we stick around until everything is loaded onto the moving truck and we have the Genesis Room setup. There are slots for individuals that are able to lift 25 pounds or more.
4. Payment: Everyone who signs up online ahead of time and signs in and out the day they work will receive an hourly "wage" (based on what the sale makes divided by number of hours worked) in their missionary's student-account. (Replacements must be confirmed by Shanna Salzman).
5. During every shift please come prepared to be as kind and as helpful as possible. This is a great opportunity for us to raise funds and interact with lots of people who don't attend our church. We want to make the most of this opportunity.
6. Thursday/Friday:  Most kids are obvioiusly in school during the day and not able to help so signups from parents/adults is very much appreciated.  This garage sale is more successful when we have a full team volunteering.  The money will go into your child's church account.  

GARAGE SALE SIGN UP GUIDELINES

Below are guidelines related to who can sign up to work the garage sale and the timeline of sign up.

1. The process for signing up for the garage sale this year will be:
   1. First week (4/6 through 4/10) - Each Youth Mission trip and National Youth Gatherine family may sign up for one shift per student going on the middle school mission trip, National Youth Gathering or attending Summer Stretch (Example: 2 student missionaries = 2 shifts total during the first week of sign ups).
   2. Second week (4/11 through 4/17) - Each Youth Mission trip/NYG family and Summer Stretch attendee may sign for one additional shift per student going on the above trips, plus any youth family that would like to make money for their student's account may sign up for a shift (per youth student). (Example: if your family has 3 - 6th through 12th grade students, you (adult or student) may sign up for 3 shifts).
   3. Third week and on (04/18 and on) - you may sign up for as many slots as you wish.
2. There are three different types of sign ups:

• Adult (19 and over)
• Youth: Youth who are finishing 10th grade in 2022 and older may fill a slot identified for Youth (Current 10th Grade or Higher)
• Youth (Current 6th to 9th Graders + Adult) Note: This position will be paid time and a half. Please be sure for these positions that both parent and child are listed (identifying when signing up the youth with "youth" in parentheses after the youth name. If you sign up as one adult working with 2 children in the 7th through 9th grade slot then you will be paid half time for the 2nd child working.

Please read the signup sheet carefully when you sign up in order to follow the above guidelines.

We are also in need of paper or plastic bags for the sale. If you have extras at home please drop them in the box outside the Bridge as soon as possible.
