Leader : Jennifer Kagan
The Children's Inn at the NIH is a home for children who are being treated at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), one of the worlds largest research centers. The mission is to provide a free, family-oriented "place like home" that support families through educational and therapeutic programs.
As volunteers, we will help prepare and serve a brunch for the residents of the Children's Inn and their families. There is a maximum of 11 volunteers, and all volunteers must be adequately well to be able to attend (no colds or coughs, please). Volunteers must 18 years or older. We will not be eating with the residents, who are encouraged to engage with the other families.
We will volunteer on Sunday, May 5, from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. We will meet at English Now!, 4963 Elm Street, Suite 300, Bethesda, MD 20814, and travel to the NIH Gateway Center, which is located adjacent to the Medical Center Metro Station at the South Drive entrance to campus from Rockville Pike / Wisconsin Avenue (Route 355). It combines visitor parking, non-commercial vehicle inspection and visitor ID processing, all in one location. All visitors must enter through the NIH Gateway Center. You will be asked to submit to a vehicle or personal inspection. Visitors must provide a form of government-issued ID such as a driver's license or passport. If you have any questions, please ask Jennifer Kagan or any of the EN! office staff.
