October Giving Tree - Fleece for Project Warm Up!
Project Warm-Up of Northern Colorado donates fleece blankets to children in foster care.
Imagine Project Warm Up of Northern Colorado
Every year, hundreds of children and teens enter into the foster care system. Some children don’t have the opportunity to grab a loved item. Imagine Charter School in Firestone is accepting donations of fleece to make tie blankets as comfort items for the children in foster care. Help show your love and appreciation for these children and teens by donating fleece to make warm blankets for our community.
Last year, Imagine’s 6th grade students created over 70 blankets. It is our goal this year to create at least 100 blankets. With your help, we hope that we can soar past that goal.
Joann’s stores often have sales on fleece during the holiday season. This is an inexpensive and easy way to bless many children. And, you can make blankets too! Go to www.projectwarmup.org, and learn how to make these simple blankets at home, and donate those as well!
Thank you for your support!
Donations to Project Warm Up for the Giving Tree:
2 Pieces of coordinating Anti-Pill Fleece
1 Yard = Infant Size
1 1/2 Yard = Toddler Size
2 Yard = Teen Size
***When donating fleece, please be mindful of the children's ages and give patterns that they would like. We are asking for that we have two amounts for each side of the blanket. A patterned for one side, and a matching solid for the other.
Here are a few tips for buying your fleece and making blankets at home:
~"Anti-pill" fleece is a higher quality fabric and doesn't ball up (or pill) after several washes. "Blizzard" is cheaper, but will get little pills after washing. In addition, "Luxe" feels great, but makes a big mess in the air and sheds all over the other blankets. Please try to buy Anti-pill fleece.
~Tie your blanket on a clean, flat surface.
~Use sharp scissors. If it's difficult to cut the fleece at all, your scissors aren't sharp.
~Cut off the one white edge w/writing before you cut the strips.
~Double-check your blanket when you're done to make sure every last tie got tied, and give each side a good stretch!
~If you're unsure, just find a YouTube video!
Accepting donations through December 18, 2019
