Bite To Go

“Bite 2 Go” is a program administered through Second Harvest Food Bank to feed hungry children in our neighborhood on the weekends.  With money from the Deacons’ offering and from sponsors in our congregation, we pay for 25 children from Hamblen Elementary School to have shelf-stable food sent home discreetly in their backpacks each Friday.

Volunteers must be able to lift a 20 lb. box. Pick up food from Second Harvest between 9:00 am and 12 noon, then deliver to Hamblen Elementary School. Volunteers should bring reusable shopping bags to transport the food packets or pick up bags at the church.  These can be found in the second cupboard door from the right of the information table in the hallway.  Return bags to same spot after delivery.
