Training for anyone interested in volunteer opportunities with the Willand Warming Center during the 2020-2021 winter season will be offered on-site at multiple upcoming sessions. Interested folks only need to attend 1 of the following sessions.
This is NOT for volunteer positions with the seasonal shelter @ Garrison Hotel overseen by Strafford Community Action Partnership. They have different training and sign-up procedures - please contact them directly @ 603.435-2500 for more information about Volunteer Opportunities for CAP managed programs.
This training includes an overview of sheltering and low-barrier shelter practices, review of Covid precautions and procedures, an introduction to basic de-escalation techniques, and the professional ethics of caring.
Due to new Covid-19 precautions, each training be limited to 10 people. Attendees must wear a mask and maintain social distance during the session. We will screen all attendees for Covid on-site before the training begins.
Please sign up for a training if you are interested in learning more and being eligible to volunteer with us.
The Willand Warming Center will be open from 5pm until at least 9am the following day during periods of life threatening weather or cold, as determined by local emergency management and public health experts. The site will also be open from 5pm-9am from December 20, 2020 to December 30, 2020, in order to run facility tests and continue training. Volunteer shelter staff are still needed for the 12/20-12/30 facility test period.
**Please note - Some training dates may fall under active site use.
