For 22 years, the Marching Knights have benefited from this important fundraiser. Tag Day started in 1996 as a way to fund new uniforms for the marching band. Because funding remains limited to this day, the MHS Band Boosters continues to hold Tag Day to support ALL music programs at MHS. The Boosters are seeking your assistance to make the twenty-first anniversary of Tag Day a spectacular year.
What is Tag Day? Any and all Marching Knights go out in groups, door to door in Middletown Valley, while DRESSED IN UNIFORM, asking for donations for the MHS Music Program.
It is an opportunity for students to earn as much as $200 to their student account for trips.
PARENT VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO DRIVE GROUPS OF TEENS TO NEIGHBORHOODS.
The details: Students meet at MHS to dress in uniform. Then go with a parent driver to canvas a section of town. Students return to MHS to change out of uniform and bring back the $Donations$ when done. Students can sign up for one or multiple slots.
Different neighborhoods of Middletown / Myersville are divided up. Maps with approximate house counts are provided. Teens go in groups of 2 -5 (however many fit in a vehicle) with a parent driver to their sections and ask for donations and/or leave an envelope with a flier. Students are given a short script of what to say, do a lot of smiling and say many thank you(s).
Why do we do this? This helps the MHS Band Boosters to pay for Competition Fees, Music, Buses, Meals, Instruments, Repairs, Maintaining the trailers, Flags, Uniforms, Uniform cleaning, Student Leadership Training, Student Awards, etc. It keeps the yearly participation fee lower. And it gives students the opportunity to earn $$ in their student account for trips.
The students collected over $10,000 last year. Approximately 25% of the donations come in the mail later.
Please consider signing up to help with this important fundraiser.
