Home and School would like to ask assistance with the carpool lanes for a few weeks. We need help from 2:30-3:00 getting the lanes properly formed, keeping cars close enough together and directing cars up to the empty lanes so we can keep Clayton Road clear. There will be flags or vests for volunteers to wear outside the cafeteria door.
Please follow the website guidelines for directing cars.
Please review the following instructions.
Arrive at 2:30
Park in the upper parking lot, near the church. Not the line so that after the cars start moving at 3:15ish, you can sneak out at the top of the hill (between the rectory and school).
Grab a flag from the little safety slow-down figures (they are in front of the garage).
Cars should form five rows. Make sure cars pull all the way up to the line on the pavement (you’ll see it when you get there).
Encourage drivers to pull close to the car in front of them with only a couple feet between cars.
The fourth car in lane 5 (innermost lane) should make a right angle turn to allow space for the other rows to curve.
Keep filling in the rows evenly as they curve around. The rows will go to four lanes at some point and sometimes three lanes up the hill depending on how everyone curves.
Important: stay at the back of the line, filling the rows evenly until all kids are in their cars and the lines start getting dismissed. Parents prefer lane five or one but then we have children crossing in front of moving cars if they so it is important to fill inner rows too.
When cars start dismissing, please return flag and you can leave.
*** please communicate to your children to stay near the garage or if they are old enough, to stay in your car. If they stay near the garage, you can get them when you return the flag.
