St. Edward Church Human Concerns
Our parish is once again able to work the soil at Shalom Farms! This is an opportunity for people of all ages and any families who have been looking for opportunities to serve together to help provide food for people in need. Shalom Farms is a nonprofit who works to build healthy communities by growing and sharing healthy food. The food they grow is distributed through a network of programs and partnerships in communities where access to healthy food is limited.
We are looking for 20 people ages 4 and up from 9am to noon on Thursday, August 18, 2022.
We are happy to sign community service waivers for middle-school and high-school students, who are accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult. (This is not a drop-off activity.)
We will be doing whatever tasks around the farm that need to be done that day. It could be harvesting, weeding, moving mulch, washing greens, etc. Please note, we will be in the sun for three hours, so bring sunscreen, a hat, and a refillable water bottle, and gloves. They have tools there, and gloves if you forget yours.
Once you sign up, we will email you their online waiver.
We will meet at the Powhatan farm, 2676 Venita Road, Midlothian, VA 23113 at 8:50am.
Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!
