- Two: Learn about the trail
- Three: See how the trail teaches a woman of today how to survive and thrive like her ancestor.
Waiting in the computer lab for her ride home, Jane plays "The Oregon Trail" to pass the time. But soon time goes backward, and her ride home is across the country where the world of her ancestors' past becomes a guide for Jane's future.
Auditions are open to the entire GWU community regardless of major or experience, as well as to those who are auditioning for class credit but not to be in the production. Also seeking student STAGE MANAGER and ASSISTANT DIRECTOR!
Rehearsals for THE OREGON TRAIL will begin after September 19.
Performances will be November 3,4,5, 2022 at 7:30 pm; November 6, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Betts Theatre, University Student Center
*All roles are open to all actors of any type, gender, race or ethnicity, nationality, and (dis)ability.
For Auditions please choose two sides to read from this collection.
TIPS FROM THE DIRECTOR:
1.) When choosing sides, think contrast - whether that's reading the same character at two different ages or choosing two very different characters to read (if you do choose two different characters, please choose them from different sides, so not reading the same side twice from both perspectives).
2.) Please lean towards characters you identify with and scenes you feel a connection to. There is no secret code for which I want you to pick or what pairings are "best." Please don't think about what we "want to see." That thing does not exist. Just bring yourselves to the work and let's get to know each other as artists in this short time we have together.
3.) FYI: it's always possible that I will ask you to cold read another side in the audition in addition to the ones you prepped. It would be just that: a cold read. No stress about prepping every side. However...
4.) Please do us both a solid and read the play before you come in. I know we're all busy, but it's short, sweet, and whether or not you end up doing it you'll know another piece of theater and you'll be prepared and have context for your audition.
