Greenbriar Art Adventure: Kindergarten
Art Adventure is a PTO sponsored program that gives parent volunteers the opportunity to teach art and cultural appreciation through classroom lessons and cultural events.
Each school year, every grade will experience one cultural event and three classroom lessons. Absolutely no creativity or art experience is necessary! All classroom lessons and cultural events include scripted lesson plans and materials.
OCT/NOV: HANGING WITH HARING
Students will be introduced to artist Keith Haring and the concepts of lines, shapes and shadows. Working together, students will also create a mural in the style of Haring.
JAN/FEB: COLOR ME MATISSE
In this popular lesson, students will create their own collage version of Matisse's painting The Goldfish using colors, textures and different patterns.
APRIL: CLAY PINCH POTS
This lesson provides a unique opportunity to assist Mr. Blair as students create pinch pot gifts to bring home.
MAY: PUT A LID ON IT
This lesson will introduce students to the book Happy Birthday, Madame Chapeau! and concepts of fashion design and hat making. After reading the book, students will then have a chance to construct their own one-of-a-kind hat.
KINDERGARTEN CULTURAL EVENT: AUSTRALIAN ADVENTURE (APR 17, 2020)
The cultural event is a unique lesson that provides students with a dynamic and fun experience in learning about the world around us. Events include performances, speakers and the opportunity to create artwork representing that culture.
