Greenbriar Art Adventure: 3rd Grade
Art Adventure is a PTO sponsored program that gives parent volunteers the opportunity to teach art and cultural appreciation through classroom lessons and cultural events.
Each school year, every grade will experience one cultural event and three classroom lessons. Absolutely no creativity or art experience is necessary! All classroom lessons and cultural events include scripted lesson plans and materials.
OCT/NOV: WOVEN WONDERS
In this hands-on lesson, students are introduced to basket weaving and its historical roots in several cultures around the world.
JAN/FEB: WILD ABOUT WIRES
Meet Alexander Calder, one of the most important American sculptors of the 20th century. In this lesson, students will create their own wire sculpture portraits.
APR/MAY: POINTILLISM TO PIXELS
This lesson centers around the idea of perspective illustrated through the technique of pointillism and photo realism. Students will be introduced to artists like Seurat, Signac and Chuck Close.
3RD GRADE CULTURAL EVENT: NATIVE AMERICAN POW WOW (APR 12, 2019)
The cultural event is a unique lesson that provides students with a dynamic and fun experience in learning about the world around us. Events include performances, speakers and the opportunity to create artwork representing that culture.
