Dear Volunteers and Donors,
We will hold our third annual Holiday Shopping event on Saturday, December 14th from 9 am to noon at Valencia United Methodist Church. We invite low-income and/or homeless families from other agencies and the 5 school districts to shop for cleaning supplies, hygiene products, clothes, toys, household products, and gift cards. Last year we served 534 people through 151 volunteers and gave $40,000 in donations away.
We are reaching out to you to see if you are willing to join us in this event. Listed below are examples of how you can participate:
We are accepting donations now until December 13th. Drop-off location is at Family Promise's Resource Center in the office building of Heart of the Canyons Church: 24551 Valley Street, Newhall, CA 91321. Drop-off times are weekdays 9am-4pm and weekends 10am-3:30pm. Please call (661) 251-2868 ahead of time to verify someone will be there to accept donations. We will store the items here until the event.
Provide in-kind or monetary donations such as gift cards from $10-25 each from Walmart, Target, JCPenney, grocery stores, 99 cent stores, Dollar Tree, Amazon, Apple, iTunes, restaurants, etc.
Coordinate a collection drive for items such as:
Hygiene Products: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, shaving cream, razors, deodorant, toothpaste, hair brushes, face wipes, diapers, wipes, etc.
Clothing: new or gently used clothing, jackets, sweaters, socks (all sizes), hoodies, children's underwear, hats, beanies, gloves, etc.
Household/Cleaning Products: detergent, cleansers, paper goods, sprays, etc.
Toys/Gifts: ages 3-18 years old (smaller gifts preferred)
Sort donations Mon. through Fri., December 9-13
Transport donations and set up on Thurs., December 12
Registration, childcare, hospitality, shopper support, restock supplies, and wrap gifts on Sat., December 14
Once event is over, clean up, pack up, and transport items leftover to the Resource Center
Together we will make a difference in the lives of families in SCV and make a tough holiday season for struggling families brighter through your donation and participation.
