Fishers Youth Assistance Program
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Fishers Youth Assistance Summer Meals Program. In the summer of 2018, more than 350 volunteers helped to serve over 600 children and youth living within the Hamilton Southeastern School District area over 40,000 meals! Without the support of the hundreds of hours of volunteers we would not be able to host this program, so in advance THANK YOU for sharing of your time!
As you sign up below please take note of a few key housekeeping points:
• Youth of all ages are welcome to volunteer during set-up and tear down, and Pack the Cruiser event (under 16 must be accompanied by a parent) When registering, please register together with your child so that you are only taking one slot.
• Youth ages 13 and older may volunteer for the morning packing shifts (under 16 must be accompanied by a parent). When registering, please register together with your child so that you are only taking one slot.
• ONLY adults (anyone over the age of 18 AND not a current student in ANY school district) may volunteer for the afternoon/evening hours of 1:00pm – 7:00 pm. While we would love to have volunteers of all ages, our goal is to ensure the privacy and anonymity of our families.
• Every volunteer, when volunteering for the first time, will have a waiver to sign. We will have these availble at the site – students under 18 y/o will need to have a parent signature in order to volunteer.
•Students who are volunteering for service hours (NHS, Junior NHS, or other) we are happy to sign off on any documentation needed; please bring forms for staff to sign.
•Volunteer shifts from 9am – Noon will include tasks such as packing bags, moving boxes and grocery items, potential heavy lifting for grocery items/boxes, and moving/breaking down palates. Additionally, in this shift we have a potential need each week for a small group of drivers to either pick up produce at the Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank and/or drive recycled materials to the drop-off site in Noblesville. If you are available and interested in helping in this way please note that below in your sign up.
•Volunteer shifts from 1:00pm – 4:00 pm and 4:00 – 7:00 pm will involve tasks such as: helping families pick up grocery items, taking groceries to cars, interacting with families and potential heavy lifting of grocery items. There will be carts provided to assist with this process of moving grocery items.
We look forward to continuing to serve our community with YOU and thank you, again, in advance for sharing your time with us this summer!
